@ChessNetwork do you know any others that i could add? i have a lot of unused gift cards for barnes and nobles that are going to expire soon so i’d like to invest in as many opening books as possible. like you pointed out, i’m purely a tactical and agressive player so if you could name any non-offbeat openings that falls into that category that would be much appreciated (thank you for replying to my initial post)

Which book do you suggest for middle game improvement

This video helped me a lot Especially the type of learner u are I started doing wat u said and played d4 as white and c6 carokan as black and it started doing alot better. Also the tip on looking for strong players with your style also helped alot. Awesome video

@TimeFreeze1 yeah i’m trying to make an real effort to get better given the fact i’m grown and got bills to pay but anyhow i’m not sure how to rate my relative or general playing strength perhaps you or jerry could give some insight, i play mostly blitz chess my favorite is 3min/2 inc and sometimes i play longer games like 10min and some with no timer as well, i find i beat most guys ranked 1250 or lower, and sometimes definitely more than i can remember i beat guys 1400 or so, and obviously

@KBoogs719 Well, one tip I guess I could give is to try out a lot of different openings. I read a lot of opening books, and I try out openings to see which ones suit me, and I guess that made me realize I’m a tactical player. Like, I have a 1600 friend, and I couldn’t beat him until I played Reti against him (1. Nf3 d5 2. c4), now, I don’t lose to him. If you play weakly in the endgame, one tip that I think of a lot is to create a barrier for your opponent’s king so it can’t participate.

@Doublemac88 I have met so many u1600 players who own 200+ chess books but never ever break out of their categorie. Most people are far more intruiged with the ‘concept’ of learning about chess-rather than doing the very hard, tedious work of actually ‘learning’ about chess. I have a friend who is a master Almost 2300 – who only read 3 books when he was coming up. He did play thousands of games though – and not one of them was on the computer-all hands on over the board.

how can i just get better with out reading books? i find books annoying.

ok jerry i been looking at my games and critiquing them, i find that my openings r weak, many of middle and endgame problems start in the first 5-10 moves. Secondly it seems I can be very dangerous given the initiative and an open game or a sharp complex position, but in a closed game, i spoil my position playing for complications, i find this type of play most comfortable(complicated tactical positions).
any advice? My win percentage in open games than closed.

How do i know what my style is? Do you know some openings from each style so i can play with these, finding out which will suit more. Can you also name some great players and styles?

You also say you ‘apply numbers in chess’. I am also a guy seeing numbers and logic everywhere, but i dont really see that in chess xD Can you explain something from that aswell?
